After hearing Saint Francis of Assisi preach in the streets, Saint Clare of Assisi confided to him her desire to live for God, the two became close friends. Saint Clare was humble, merciful, charming, optimistic, and chivalrous. She would get up late at night to tuck in her sisters who̥d kicked off their covers. She carried the Blessed Sacrament to the walls of the convent to ward off attackers. She dropped to her knees and prayed and the attack was aborted. Saint Clare was designated as the patron saint of television in 1958, on the basis that when she was too ill to attend Mass, she had reportedly been able to see and hear it on the wall of her room. Her feast day is August 11th.
